We’re still looking for help with claiming unlaunched UW Theme Classic sites! These sites must be launched in UW Theme Classic by March 31, 2026. After that point, they’ll need to be migrated to UW Theme 2.0 before they can launch to a production domain.

UW Events is now available for UW Theme 2.0 sites
WiscWeb and StratComm’s Digital Strategy team are thrilled to announce that the UW Events plugin is officially available for use in UW Theme 2.0 sites and for migration.
UW Theme 2.0 version 2.7.0 release
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, UW Theme 2.0 was updated to version 2.7.0 in the WiscWeb service. A full list of changes in this version of the UW Theme can be reviewed in the changelog.
WordPress Core 6.9.1 updates for UW Theme Classic and UW Theme 2.0 sites
On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, all WiscWeb sites (in both UW Theme Classic and UW Theme 2.0) were upgraded to WordPress Core 6.9.1. This was a minor WordPress release with only maintenance-related updates (no security fixes at this time).
Assistance requested: Confirming ownership of unlaunched sites
WiscWeb site owners will be required to transition their sites from UW Theme Classic to UW Theme 2.0 by December 2026. To help us in tracking progress in this effort, we are looking to understand if certain unlaunched WiscWeb project sites are still in use.
SSL changes required from the UW Certificate Service will not impact WiscWeb sites
The UW Certificate Service team recently sent an email to users to make them aware of changes coming to the service offering. These changes will not impact WiscWeb websites/domains.
UW Theme 2.0 version 2.6.0 release and WordPress Core 6.9 updates

UW Theme Classic v1.42.0 and WordPress Core 6.9 updates
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, UW Theme Classic was updated to version 1.42.0 in the WiscWeb service. Sites using UW Theme Classic were also upgraded to WordPress Core 6.9 at this time. A full list of changes in this version of UW Theme Classic can be reviewed in the changelog.
Understanding data risks: Media files linked from protected pages
Traditional methods for protecting content do not protect media that is uploaded to the site. This is true for both page protection options in WiscWeb: NetID page protection and the WordPress native password protection.
Reminder: WiscWeb sites will need to migrate to UW Theme 2.0 by December 2026
