UW Theme Classic updated to v1.41.0
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the WordPress UW Theme was updated to version 1.41.0 in the WiscWeb service. This update includes updates for ACF Pro, as well as updates to campus styles. Users will notice changes to the editing view, as well as subtle changes to styles for things like theme typography and colors. A small patch was added on November 5, 2025 to upgrade the ACF version and fix two found issues.

Important update for users of RSS feeds/PubMed
RSS feeds that use PubMed are broken due to issues in PubMed. For the time being, we recommend linking out directly to publications lists that use this tooling.
WordPress Core v6.8.3 Release
On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, WiscWeb sites were upgraded to WordPress Core v6.8.3.
UW Theme 2.0 now available on WiscWeb for ‘build from scratch’ websites
On behalf of the WiscWeb team and the Office of Strategic Communication’s Digital Strategy Team, we’re thrilled to announce that UW Theme 2.0 is now available in WiscWeb for building new (from scratch) websites!
Future infrastructure will remove fuzzy URL matching
WiscWeb will be using new infrastructure with the release of UW Theme 2.0. With this new infrastructure, fuzzy URL matching will no longer be enabled. Users may see a 404 error page when visiting URLs that previously redirected to published content.
Gravity Forms to remove legacy markup in version 3.1 (not yet released)
Legacy markup options in Gravity Forms will be removed by the vendor in the future v3.1 release. Also, UW Theme 2.0 will not accommodate legacy markup styling. Users are encouraged to review existing forms and toggle off the legacy markup now, if possible.
