On Jan. 26, 2026, we sent an email requesting that users claim their unlaunched UW Theme Classic sites by February 27, 2026. Thank you to everyone who has already reviewed the related spreadsheet and added comments!
If you haven’t had a chance yet, please take a moment to review the unlaunched sites spreadsheet (UW email required for access) and add a note if your site(s) are still needed. This information helps us understand whether the sites will need to migrate to UW Theme 2.0.
Additionally, we want to share that the ability to launch UW Theme Classic sites in our old environment will be ending on March 31, 2026. (Note: This is not a deadline for migration. Our migration deadline is still December 2026).
What is an “unlaunched site” in UW Theme Classic?
An unlaunched site is a site that:
- Is still publishing to a *.wiscweb.wisc.edu domain, which we consider to be a project domain
- Never officially launched to a production domain
If neither apply to your site(s), your site will not appear in the spreadsheet and you can safely ignore this message.
What do I need to do?
- If you have an unlaunched site in the spreadsheet and wish for it to be published to a production domain/URL in UW Theme Classic, you must submit the launch request form by March 31, 2026.
- If you want to maintain ownership of an unlaunched UW Theme Classic site for now, please claim it and add a note in the spreadsheet.
- Please note that unlaunched sites that are claimed will need to be migrated to UW Theme 2.0 by the end of the calendar year.
- If your site is already in UW Theme 2.0 (launched or unlaunched), no action is required.
Why are we adding a deadline to sites launching in UW Theme Classic?
Over the course of 2026, we are working to migrate 2,000+ sites over to UW Theme 2.0. This shift allows our small team to limit the complexity of DNS changes we are making during an already busy time.
