In fall 2025, users alerted the WiscWeb team to an issue with the Kaltura embed option for both UW Theme Classic and UW Theme 2.0.
After researching the problem, our team found the issue resided on the Kaltura side. We connected with the Kaltura team here at DoIT and they connected directly with the vendor (Shout out to the DoIT Kaltura team, who helped immensely with elevating this issue to the vendor 🎉).
We believe this issue is fixed for most users now. Here’s what you need to know:
UW Theme Classic users
UW Theme Classic users should rely on the KnowledgeBase instructions for this process. Please be sure to:
- Fully review the KnowledgeBase document.
- Generate a new Kaltura embed URL.
- Place it on your page using the KnowledgeBase instructions.
UW Theme 2.0 users
UW Theme 2.0 users should rely on the UW Theme 2.0 instructions for this process. Please be sure to:
- Fully review the UW Theme 2.0 webpage regarding the Embed block.
- Generate a new Kaltura embed URL.
- Place it on your page using the UW Theme 2.0 instructions.
Troubleshooting
- Not sure which theme you’re using? Scroll down to the footer of your website and it should display the theme in use.
- Is your Kaltura embed still not working?
- Make sure that you are using the URL for the oEmbed option and the oEmbed player skin. The URL should contain the ID 25717641.
