On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, the WordPress UW Theme was updated to version 2.3.0 in the WiscWeb service. A full list of changes in this version of the UW Theme can be reviewed in the changelog.
Here are some noteworthy highlights:
Added additional gradients to Cover block color palette
This release introduces three new gradients to the Cover block color palette:

“Dark Gray Gradient”

“Medium Gray Gradient”

“Light Gray Gradient”
Gradients are primarily intended to be used as solid backgrounds, but could also serve as overlays.
Removed rich text highlighting format option
The WordPress block editor natively offers a suite of rich text formatting options. This included a highlight feature that we did not feel was ideal for branded campus websites. Therefore, this feature has been removed.
