All WiscWeb sites need to be fully migrated to UW Theme 2.0 by the end of December 2026. There are steps required of you in this process and you also need to send in a request to kick off the process for your site(s). After migrating, you’ll also need to request a new site launch. It’s time for you to start thinking about this process and roadmapping time for your team to make the switch.
WiscWeb Announcements
Pause on customization requests from June 2 – July 18
WiscWeb is enacting a pause on customization requests starting on June 2 and running through July 18, 2025. This is to help limit the number of billing requests that are sent to DoIT Billing during the ATP roll-out. If you have a need for customizations during that period, please reach out to WiscWeb via the Support Request Form to chat about interim solutions for displaying your brand.
Also, the billing process will switch from using DNumbers to using DoIT Billing Customer ID after June 30, 2025.
Thanksgiving availability 🦃
The WiscWeb team will have low availability during the Thanksgiving holidays (November 28, 2024 and November 29, 2024).
Please expect delays in messaging.
If you experience an emergency during this time, please contact the Help Desk.
WiscWeb to end support for video uploads to Media Library on Nov 1
On Nov. 1st, 2024, the WiscWeb team will remove the ability to upload video files in the Media Library. We recommend uploading this content into a video hosting service like YouTube, Vimeo, or Kaltura in the future.
Limited WiscWeb team availability on July 5
The WiscWeb team will have extremely low availability on Friday, July 5.
The team will only be responding to emergency requests that day. Please expect delays with other support requests and messages during that time.
Maintenance updates scheduled for 4/2/24 and 4/4/24
WiscWeb will be undergoing system maintenance during two periods this week:
- Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 12:00AM – 12:30AM.
- Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 4:00AM – 5:00AM.
To minimize any potential disruptions, please refrain from making any edits on your WiscWeb website during that time.
We anticipate a small amount of downtime during these updates.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us via our Customer Support Form. Or, if preferred, you can schedule Office Hours with us for personal support.
Cookie information for WiscWeb website owners
A recent Tech Partners thread brought new attention to the ongoing conversation about cookie concerns on campus. This is something we’ve been addressing and communicating about for the past year, and we’re happy to see people engaging with the topic. Here is everything we know in a single post to make things easier for users to reference.
Hourly slowdowns
WiscWeb is experiencing temporary slowdowns that hit hourly at the 30 min mark (e.g., 4:30PM). We believe the cause is related to technology that runs at a regularly scheduled interval (known as cron jobs). As we continue to investigate the cause, you may experience issues when accessing your site. We have opened an outage on outages.doit.wisc.edu for tracking the issue and our progress. As the outage states, we recommend refreshing your page a couple of times if you run into slowness or an error throughout the day.
Please contact WiscWeb support with any issues.
WiscWeb holiday availability ☃️
The WiscWeb team will have low availability during the winter holidays (December 23, 2024 – January 2, 2025).
Please expect delays in messaging.
If you experience an emergency during this time, please contact the Help Desk.
