On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the WordPress UW Theme was updated to version 1.28.0 in the WiscWeb service. A full list of changes in this version of the UW Theme can be reviewed in the changelog.
This release includes some minor bug fixes (mostly related to PHP) and accessibility improvements.
Here’s a few of the noteworthy changes:
Fixed: Accordion link underlines for better accessibility
This update adds underlines to list link elements inside of accordion panels.

Fixed: Faculty/Staff listing page element filter bug
This update ensures that filtering UI will not be included on a fac/staff page element if the selection type was “individual people.” Previously, if you added a listing using the “all people” or taxonomy filters with filtering checked, then changed that listing to “individual people,” the “include filtering?” checkbox remained checked and persisted in the database.
Fixed: Improved readability of caption text on dark backgrounds
On dark gray backgrounds, captions for images in text boxes with “drop shadow” or “UW card style” enabled appeared very light gray. This created a visual accessibility barrier.
This update darkens the text so that it appears like any other caption font in the theme.
