UW Theme Updated to 1.25.0

On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the WordPress UW Theme was updated to version 1.25.0 in the WiscWeb service. A full list of changes in this version of the UW Theme can be reviewed in the changelog.

Here are a couple of items of note:

Tightly spaced lists

Users can now enjoy the option to create more tightly spaced lists. This option is available for both bulleted and numbered list views.

Two columns of text with bulleted lists. The list on the left has more white space between rows than the one on the right.

Instructions for this feature can be found in the following KnowledgeBase doc: WiscWeb – Tightly Spaced List

Revision support for Fac/Staff and Documents pages

We’ve opened the ability to see revision history for both Faculty/Staff posts as well as Document posts.

Bug fix for Customizer menu option

When editing a menu in the Customizer, top-level dropdown toggles were not working properly. Rather than toggling the dropdown, they were linking directly to the page.

This update fixes this behavior so that users can build out menus using the related Customizer feature.

Removal of CAPS styling for “more” links and form buttons

In an effort to align the UW Theme more closely with accessibility standards, we have removed the CAPS styling for “more” links (under post and events lists) and from buttons displayed in Gravity Forms forms (like the “Submit” button).

Hero carousel accessibility improvements

We’ve also made some accessibility improvements to the hero carousel feature. This feature is powered by Slick JS carousel technology. We were able to update the Javascript for the hero to include the latest accessibility upgrades.

Thanks to the Center for UX for helping us test the UW Theme for accessibility and offer insights for improvements!
