This message is specific to sites which embed Facebook and/or Instagram posts on one or more pages of their site.
An update to Facebook and Instagram scheduled to occur on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 will cause any individual embedded posts from either social media platform to stop displaying correctly in WordPress. You can read more about the overall issue in this Search Engine Journal article.
What Is the Issue
Facebook (along with Instagram) will only allow the embedding functionality to work for those with authenticated Facebook developer accounts, and a registered Facebook application to access that content (for example, a mobile app).
What You Need To Do
As this will cause those particular embedded content items to no longer work correctly, you should review any items that you are displayed and update them appropriately – either by removing them, or creating hyperlinks to the posts themselves, instead.
Breadth of Issue
As WordPress’s oEmbed function for Facebook and Instagram has only ever allowed individual posts and not feeds, usage across the WiscWeb service has been low.
