On Thursday, March 5, the WordPress UW Theme was updated to version 1.9.0. A full list of changes in this version of the UW Theme can be reviewed in the changelog.
Here are a few of the changes that users of the theme can see:
Image Carousel Display in Mobile
The image carousel page element had previously jumbled images and descriptions when viewed in a narrowed screen size. This bug has been resolved.
Excerpt Field on By Default
The Excerpt Field is now visible on all pages and posts by default, without having to update Screen Options. This should make editing this area easier.
Search Field on By Default
All new sites created using the UW Theme will now have the Search field turned on by default. Users will still have the option to add Google Custom Search Engine, if they desire. Existing sites will still have to toggle this function on if they want it.
Accessibility of Hero Image
We’ve improved the accessibility of the hero carousel by setting hero container’s aria landmark to “region” and adding an aria label.
