The WiscWeb Service was updated to WordPress Core version 5.3 on Monday, November 25, 2019. This update is mostly related to changes to and fixes for the Gutenberg editor, which is not yet available with the UW Theme. More information about these changes can be found on the WordPress website.
Known Issues
Media Uploads
We have identified an issue with uploading media that appears to be related to our Enhanced Media Library plugin not being compatible with WordPress 5.3.
When you are uploading media via a page (rather than straight to the Media Library), the Uploads tab button will not appear and the window looks blank.
If you need to upload media, you can still do so by uploading directly to the Media Library and then adding into a page element on a page. Alternatively, you could drag and drop the media into the blank window that appears for the Uploads tab.
Admin Email Verification
Some users are being served with an email verification screen upon login. We hope to remove this for all users, but in the meantime, you can select the “Remind me later” option.
If you notice anything else that is not working as expected with your site following these updates, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at cms-support@doit.wisc.edu.
