Layouts affect how your content displays on your page by putting your content in organized columns. This makes it easy for you to organize your content, and for your site visitors to consume the content. The UW Theme offers three different layout options, allowing you to use one, two, or three columns for your pages.
Before deciding which layout to use:
- Determine why users will be visiting the page. Your home page will likely make better use of multiple columns, as sites tend to display the most popular content on their home page. If the content is a lengthy policy, it will be much easier to read in a single column.
- Content cannot be easily moved between layouts. If you create a page and later decide to add or remove columns, you’ll have to recreate content in the new layout. This can involve copying and pasting, or recreating the content from scratch.
