Embed Code Reminders

Having an issue with your content? Use the information below to determine if it is related to embed code updates.

We Made Changes to Embedded Content!

Reminder: We made updates to our service to remove the ability to embed content using certain HTML tags (e.g., iframe, script, style).

This change could have resulted in the following issues:

  • I published or edited content and now ‘x’ is no longer showing up on my live page

  • I’m trying to add code to a page and it keeps going away after publishing

  • I’m seeing random code on my live page

If one of the above relates to your issue, it is likely that the content broke after we rolled out embed code updates. Keep scrolling for next steps. Or, if these are unrelated to your issue, go back to the Customer Support Form to submit your issue to the WiscWeb support team.

Next Steps

Here are the steps we are recommending to remedy your issue:

  1. First, check to see if your tool is accommodated. All supported tools are listed in our Embed Options page in the KnowledgeBase.
  2. If accommodated, select your desired tool to learn the new steps for adding the content. Update your page accordingly.
  3. If not accommodated, the recommendation is to link out to the content instead.
  4. Hot Tip: Don’t forget to clean up any old embed code! It could be confusing to your users if displaying garbled code on your live page.
  5. Still having issues? We can help.

If you are still unable to update your content after following the KnowledgeBase instructions, give these tricks a try:

  1. Try pasting the URL of the tool into the Text tab of the Text Block, then toggle back to the Visual tab.
  2. Try clicking on the Add Media button in the text editor. Choose “Insert from URL” on the left and paste the full URL into the first box. Click the “Insert into page” button.
  3. Try adding an Embed Content page element to the page instead of a Text Block. Paste the URL into the embed content field. (Note: This works best if the only thing in the Text Block is the embed).

Still not working? Please sign up for a time to meet with a WiscWeb team member during Office Hours. We can help you troubleshoot your issue.
